About the position

The Senior Data Scientist - Emerging ML at Capital One is a pivotal role focused on leveraging machine learning and data science to drive innovation and enhance customer experiences. This position involves conducting research and development in artificial intelligence, particularly in self-supervised learning and transformer models, while collaborating with product and engineering teams to implement solutions that impact millions of customers. The role encompasses the entire data science lifecycle, from model development to operationalization, aimed at improving business outcomes across various domains.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research into self-supervised learning, transformer models, and representation learning.
• Build customer behavioral models using transaction, clickstream, and other data to identify trends and patterns.
• Refine integration patterns for encoder and decoder models for downstream use cases.
• Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, and validation.
• Partner with engineering teams to operationalize models in scalable production systems.
• Collaborate with business and product teams to conduct experiments that enhance customer experiences and business outcomes.
• Write software in Python, Scala, etc., to analyze large datasets using tools like Spark and AWS.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years of experience in data analytics, or Master's Degree plus 1 year of experience in data analytics.
• At least 1 year of experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis.
• At least 1 year of experience with machine learning.
• At least 1 year of experience with relational databases.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree or PhD in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
• Experience working with AWS.
• At least 2 years' experience in Python, Scala, or R.
• At least 2 years' experience with machine learning.
• At least 2 years' experience with SQL.
