About the position

As a Senior Data Scientist in Product Analytics, you will join a team that focuses on using data to improve the customer experience throughout the Shopping path on all Expedia Brands. This role involves working cross-functionally to deliver great features to our customers, optimizing experimentation strategies, and using advanced analytics methods to drive new test hypotheses.

Responsibilities

  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, ML programming, and data visualization to improve customer experience.
  • Own the end-to-end process in designing and running complex experiments (A/B tests, Pre-Post, Interleaving), proactively identifying opportunities and recommending new features for testing.
  • Collaborate across the analytics community to define how to embed new metrics and methodologies into the experimentation culture.
  • Lead key strategic projects within the shopping experience to support goal setting, opportunity sizing, and product performance review.
  • Manage product analytics projects and operate within a community of analysts, sharing findings and methodologies.
  • Raise the bar in prescriptive and predictive insights across product analytics, mentoring junior analysts.
  • Influence action and results through clear writing and engaging presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, operations research, data science or similar.
  • 6+ years of experience in industry or equivalent.
  • Expertise in Python, Scala, R, or any other major machine learning programming language.
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, experimentation, segmentation, optimization techniques, and interpretation of machine learning models.
  • Strong logical thinking and ability to manage projects with different functions (product, strategy, engineering, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and data visualization skills.
