About the position

The Senior Data Scientist in Product, Cloud Developer Relations at Google plays a crucial role in providing quantitative support and strategic insights to enhance developer engagement with Cloud products. This position involves analyzing data to inform decision-making, measuring the impact of developer relations activities, and communicating findings to various stakeholders. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to drive data-driven solutions and recommendations for product management and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python) to solve complex business problems.
  • Build new processes, procedures, methods, tests, and components to address future issues.
  • Collect, clean, and analyze data from various sources, including surveys, product usage data, and social media.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support business reviews with leadership teams.
  • Translate analysis results into business insights or product improvement opportunities.
  • Build and prototype analysis and business cases iteratively to provide insights at scale.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.
  • Influence across teams to align resources and direction.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL).
  • 3 years of experience managing analytical projects.
  • Experience in experimental design and causal inference.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of experience in scripting and statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS).
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • 1 year of experience preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership.
  • Ability to think critically and analyze complex problems.
  • Excellent business acumen to align research efforts with organizational objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying technical and statistical concepts clearly.
