About the position

The Senior Data Scientist role at TikTok Live involves conducting in-depth analyses of user behavior and content ecosystems to derive actionable business insights. This position is pivotal in enhancing user experience and driving the growth of TikTok Live. The Data Scientist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Research and Development, and Machine Learning Engineers, to implement strategies that foster community engagement and real-time interactions on the platform. The TikTok Live Data Science team is dedicated to analyzing growth, ecosystem dynamics, and revenue strategies, aiming to create a vibrant environment for users worldwide. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing various aspects of the LIVE business, such as user watching experiences, creator ecosystems, and algorithm improvements. You will design a metrics framework to assess product health, track core metrics, and investigate the underlying causes of metric fluctuations. Additionally, you will employ statistical methods for scientific evaluations, including A/B testing and causal inference, to identify growth opportunities and inform business decisions. Your research into data science theories and methodologies will enhance analysis efficiency and improve data product tools, ultimately contributing to TikTok's mission of inspiring creativity and bringing joy to its users.

Responsibilities

• Conduct data analysis in LIVE related business, including watching experience, creator ecosystem, agency management, and algorithm improvement.
• Design metrics framework to measure product healthiness, track core metrics, and understand root causes of metric movements.
• Conduct scientific evaluation with statistical methods, including A/B testing and causal inference.
• Identify growth opportunities with data analytics and drive business decisions in collaboration with PM/MLE/RD.
• Research data science theories and methodologies to improve analysis efficiency and data product tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, econometrics, or a related scientific major.
• 3+ years of experience in Data Science or a related role.
• Expertise in SQL.
• Strong analytical and causal reasoning mindset, with a focus on statistical correctness.
• Strong communication skills and passion for product challenges.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience programming with Python or R.
