About the position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Data Scientist with TS/SCI clearance to join our dynamic team focused on advancing the state of the art in mission-focused big data analytics and predictive analytics. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering advanced data science capabilities that support national security objectives. Your work will involve swiftly producing and analyzing results, disseminating findings, and contributing to presentations that provide actionable intelligence insights. You will engage in projects that require designing, developing, and deploying data science and machine learning capabilities and products. This includes applying machine learning libraries such as SciKit Learn, Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch to develop and train machine learning models. Most of the work will be conducted on-site at our client location in Bethesda, MD, but we offer a flexible schedule, and some tasks may be performed remotely depending on client requirements and deliverables priorities. You will collaborate closely with a tight-knit team of data scientists, software developers, network engineers, senior investigators, program managers, researchers, and data analysts to design, build, and optimize a Data Science platform. Your projects will cover a variety of big data topics, including national security, cyber security, business intelligence, and human behavior. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will support multiple simultaneous projects, taking open-ended or high-level guidance to independently and collaboratively make discoveries that are mission-relevant. You will package and deliver your findings to a non-technical audience, leveraging your intellectual curiosity, quantitative acumen, and customer-focus to identify novel sources of data and improve the performance of predictive algorithms. Your strong background in research design, exploratory analysis, and quantitative methods will be essential in this role, as will your experience with customer outreach and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced data science capabilities to support national security objectives.
  • Produce and analyze results, disseminate findings, and contribute to actionable intelligence presentations.
  • Design, develop, and deploy data science and machine learning capabilities and products.
  • Work closely with a team of data scientists and software developers to optimize a Data Science platform.
  • Analyze a variety of big data covering national security, cyber security, and human behavior.
  • Support multiple simultaneous projects and independently make discoveries that are mission-relevant.
  • Package and deliver findings to a non-technical audience.
  • Identify novel sources of data to improve predictive algorithms and encourage user adoption of analytics platforms.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree and 12-15 years of prior experience or Masters with 10-13 years of relevant experience in a quantitative or analytical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or quantitative intelligence analysis.
  • Must possess TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as R or Python.
  • Experience working with a hybrid team of analysts, engineers, and developers.
  • Previous experience performing research and development in data analytics or big data.
  • Track record of active learning and creative problem solving.
  • Ability to analyze and assess software development or data acquisition requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in direct support of military or intelligence community customers.
  • Experience dealing with open source, publicly available information, forensic media, or cybersecurity.
  • Experience with knowledge graphs and related technology such as neo4j.
  • Experience with databases such as SQL, NoSQL, and Elasticsearch.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS/C2S).
  • Experience creating dashboards and prototype web applications with technologies like Kibana or Streamlit.
