About the position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Data Scientist with TS/SCI clearance to join our dynamic team in Gaithersburg, MD. This role involves performing cutting-edge data analytics to support a major program that advances the state of the art in mission-focused big data analytics and predictive analytics. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering advanced data science capabilities that contribute to national security objectives. This includes swiftly producing and analyzing results, disseminating findings, and contributing to presentations with actionable intelligence insights. In this position, you will work on projects that involve designing, developing, and deploying data science and machine learning capabilities and products. You will apply machine learning libraries such as SciKit Learn, Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch to develop and train ML models. While most of the work will be conducted on-site at our client location in Bethesda, MD, we offer a flexible schedule, and some tasks may be performed remotely depending on client requirements and deliverables priorities. You will collaborate closely with a tight-knit team of data scientists, software developers, network engineers, senior investigators, program managers, researchers, and data analysts. Your responsibilities will include designing, building, and optimizing a Data Science platform to produce and analyze results, disseminate findings, and contribute to publications and presentations. You will also analyze a variety of big data covering national security, cyber security, business intelligence, online social media, and human behavior. This role requires the ability to support multiple simultaneous projects, make discoveries that are mission-relevant, and effectively communicate findings to a non-technical audience. To excel in this role, you should bring a mix of intellectual curiosity, quantitative acumen, and customer focus to identify novel sources of data across various fields, improve the performance of predictive algorithms, and encourage user adoption of high-end data analytics platforms in partnership with a highly qualified and motivated team.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced data science capabilities to support national security objectives.
  • Produce and analyze results, disseminate findings, and contribute to actionable intelligence insights.
  • Design, develop, and deploy data science and machine learning capabilities and products.
  • Apply machine learning libraries such as SciKit Learn, Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch to develop and train ML models.
  • Collaborate with a team of data scientists, software developers, and analysts to optimize a Data Science platform.
  • Analyze big data related to national security, cyber security, and human behavior.
  • Support multiple simultaneous projects and communicate findings to a non-technical audience.
  • Identify novel sources of data to improve predictive algorithms and user adoption of analytics platforms.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree and 12-15 years of prior experience or Masters with 10-13 years of relevant experience in a quantitative or analytical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or quantitative intelligence analysis.
  • Must possess TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI with Polygraph.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as R or Python.
  • Experience working with a hybrid team of analysts, engineers, and developers.
  • Previous experience performing research and development in data analytics or big data.
  • Track record of active learning and creative problem solving.
  • Ability to analyze and assess software development or data acquisition requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in direct support of military or intelligence community customers.
  • Experience with open source, publicly available information (PAI), forensic media, or cybersecurity.
  • Experience with knowledge graphs and related technology such as neo4j.
  • Experience with databases such as SQL, NoSQL, and Elasticsearch.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS/C2S).
  • Experience creating dashboards and web applications with technologies like Kibana or Streamlit.
