About the position

Atlassian is seeking a seasoned Data Scientist to join our world-class Data Science team. In this role, you will leverage data to drive insights about our products and customers, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, Data Engineers, Marketers, and Executive teams. The Data Science team is responsible for employing a variety of analysis and data-science techniques to understand customer engagement with Atlassian's products and communications. This understanding will help identify, design, and measure the success of product investments. As a Data Scientist, you will tackle a variety of product and business problems, becoming a trusted strategic partner to cross-functional teams. Your work will involve applying technical expertise in quantitative analysis and experimentation, developing strategies to address the business's most significant challenges. You will focus on formulating hypotheses through various analytical approaches and methodologies, testing these hypotheses to uncover opportunities for product and business improvement. Your responsibilities will include defining and measuring the success of product efforts through forecasting and monitoring key product metrics, using data to shape product development, and ensuring that the products we build deliver value to our customers and the business. You will also be expected to communicate insights effectively, utilizing storytelling techniques to present findings to company leadership and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on product and business problems with cross-functional partners.
  • Apply technical expertise with quantitative analysis and experimentation to develop business strategies.
  • Develop hypotheses through analytical approaches and test them.
  • Define, understand, and test opportunities to improve products and influence roadmaps.
  • Partner with teams to inform and execute strategy decisions.
  • Identify and measure the success of product efforts through key metrics monitoring.
  • Use data to shape product development and quantify new opportunities.
  • Communicate insights broadly using storytelling techniques.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields.
  • Proficiency in SQL and another data manipulation programming language (e.g., Python, R).
  • Expertise in data storytelling and familiarity with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, R-Shiny, Looker).
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts (e.g., regressions, A/B tests, clustering).
  • Experience driving impactful projects or programs through analytics skills.
  • Proven track record of crafting analysis into persuasive content.
  • Experience advising and presenting to senior executives.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields.
  • Understanding of the SaaS business model and key metrics.
