About the position

FTI is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to enhance Marine Corps aviation squadron safety through data modeling. This role involves taking models from inception to production, collaborating closely with customers for requirements and feedback, and working primarily on-site at the Naval Safety Command Center in Norfolk, with potential remote options.

Responsibilities

• Produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets.
• Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns and identify opportunities.
• Design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms for optimal data value extraction.
• Generate and test hypotheses and analyze results of product experiments.
• Collaborate with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features.
• Mentor junior data scientists and work independently with minimal oversight.

Requirements

• Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4+ years of data science experience.
• 2+ years of coding experience in Python, R, or a similar language.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
