About the position

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) plays a critical role in overseeing the flow of people, capital, and products entering and leaving the United States. The complexity of these operations necessitates innovative solutions to ensure that trade and travel are efficient, legal, safe, and secure. In partnership with CBP, ManTech is seeking skilled Data Scientists to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality predictive modeling solutions. These professionals will be recognized as subject matter experts in quantitative methods, machine learning algorithms, and predictive models, addressing complex national and homeland security challenges. The Data Scientists will leverage large structured and unstructured datasets to create and operationalize models, tools, and applications that enhance decision-making processes. Key project tasks will include data collection, mining, analytics, clustering analysis, pattern recognition, automated classification, and entity resolution, all aimed at improving automated risk assessment. The insights generated from these products will have a direct and immediate impact on the safety and security of the United States and its citizens. Successful candidates will have extensive experience in dynamic, threat-driven environments and a proven history of delivering production-ready decision support tools. They will work collaboratively with mission stakeholders, adapt to changing priorities, and apply new tools and techniques effectively. Within the first three to six months, Data Scientists will be expected to perform hands-on analysis and modeling, collaborate on mission challenges, extract and transform data, and develop predictive models that inform mission decisions. They will also be responsible for briefing both technical and non-technical audiences on project management, technical design, and outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
