About the position

FTI is seeking a senior data scientist to enhance Marine Corps aviation squadron safety through data modeling. The role involves taking models from inception to production, collaborating closely with customers for requirements and feedback, and working primarily on-site at the Naval Safety Command Center in Norfolk, with potential remote options.

Responsibilities

• Produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets.
• Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns and identify opportunities.
• Pose business questions and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement.
• Design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms for optimal value extraction from data.
• Generate and test hypotheses and analyze results of product experiments.
• Collaborate with product engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features.
• Provide guidelines for large-scale implementation of models.
• Work independently with little oversight and mentor junior data scientists.

Requirements

• Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4+ years of data science experience.
• 2+ years of coding experience in Python, R, or a similar language.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
