About the position

In this role, you’ll leverage your 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer to take the lead in defining and implementing comprehensive data strategies that empower our organization. You’ll utilize your expertise in SQL Server and modern data tools to build, optimize, and streamline data pipelines, integrate diverse data sources, and create robust data architectures that support both operational and analytical needs. As a technical leader, you’ll collaborate closely with developers, business stakeholders, and external customers to ensure data solutions align with evolving business requirements. You’ll be responsible for defining the technical roadmap, driving data innovation, and shaping the future of our data systems. Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the data strategy for the organization, working closely with business stakeholders, developers, and teams to assess needs and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT tools while ensuring compatibility with existing systems and business requirements.
  • Design and implement data models, data warehouses, and data lakes, ensuring seamless integration with both new and legacy data sources.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing database solutions, including SQL Server environments and legacy applications.
  • Write, review, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and triggers to support both operational and analytical needs.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to database performance, data integrity, and system outages, supporting both new and legacy systems.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in data management. Lead initiatives to implement these improvements in both new and existing projects.
  • Document processes, architectures, and best practices; provide training and support to team members on new technologies and legacy systems.
  • Work with the customer service team to address data-related issues raised by external customers, ensuring high-quality, reliable data solutions are delivered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or a related role with a focus on defining and implementing data strategy.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server and Azure data technologies.
  • Proven experience in leading large-scale data transformation efforts, from planning and design to implementation.
  • Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, including complex queries, performance optimization, and advanced features like triggers and stored procedures.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based data solutions, specifically within the Azure data platform.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or R for data manipulation and automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong ability to engage with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience using version control systems like Git.
