About the position

The Oregon Department of Corrections' Information Technology Services is actively recruiting for a Senior Data Warehouse Administrator and Database Administrator, Information Systems Specialist 8. This position is approved for telework but will be required to report to the ODOC Central Services Office in Salem, Oregon as needed. The primary purpose of this position is to provide expertise in the management of enterprise databases including Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2. This position will be responsible for a complex mixed data environment that comprises Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 and other related data systems. The role involves providing data warehouse and database expert level services including administration, consultation, analysis, planning, development, implementation, and management for the agency. The position will also coordinate with various teams to provide data necessary for reporting and data dashboard creation, and consult on standards and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to system crashes and data error conditions that are time critical to DOC and other agencies.
  • Provide technical assistance to other staff working system crashes or failures.
  • Coordinate, install and implement complex vendor solutions for a data warehouse solution.
  • Analyze and identify corrupt or problematic data issues; evaluate and execute actions to resolve errors.
  • Assist customers with data reporting and analysis needs in complex technical data environments.
  • Coordinate and perform complex requirements, analysis, design, and development functions.
  • Responsible for overall development, performance and maintenance of data warehouse and other data systems.
  • Research and implement technology and functionality that may be new to the State.
  • Develop and manage data warehouse architecture and other databases as well as data files.
  • Establish and enforce data security policy, definition, and administration.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of information systems experience in database administration, data architecture, and data warehousing administration technologies.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND five (5) years of information systems experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience.
  • A Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience with Agile and Object-Oriented development methodologies.
  • Experience with design, modeling, and development of complex database architecture.
  • Preferred knowledge of ODOC technology stack and data infrastructure.
