About the position

The Senior Data Warehouse SQL Developer/Supervisor at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is a senior-level professional responsible for overseeing the enterprise Data Warehouse database and its associated ETL processes. This role involves maintaining and enhancing the DataMart system, extracting and transforming data from various sources, and ensuring that the analytical data supports decision-making for the agency's operations. The position also includes supervisory responsibilities over the DataMart team, ensuring compliance with data warehouse standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, support, enhance, and maintain the Agency enterprise DataMart data warehouse/database and its related automated ELT processes.
  • Integrate data from multiple source systems and databases to create an analytical data warehouse in Oracle.
  • Support the Agency's MS SQL Server database management systems to ensure smooth operation, security, and performance.
  • Head the development and maintenance of data warehouse standards, processes, and policies.
  • Modernize and enhance the existing data warehouse infrastructure, incorporating the latest data warehouse/analytics platforms and technologies.
  • Oversee activities and direct employees of the DataMart team, including task assignments and performance evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • Seven years of experience with Oracle database and/or MS SQL Server database.
  • SQL (PL/SQL or T-SQL) programming experience.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and providing support on data warehouse.
  • Scripting/coding experience (e.g., Python, C#).
  • Experience with enterprise batch scheduling software (e.g., Application Manager).
  • Knowledge and experience in all systems development life cycle (SDLC) stages.
  • Experience with data warehousing best practices and methodologies.
  • Experience with data modeling and database design principles.
  • Experience with ETL tools, such as Automic Applications Manager, Informatica, SSIS, or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools, such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
