About the position

ENSCO's Applied Technology and Engineering Division is seeking a Senior Database Developer to design, optimize, and maintain database models for high-speed, real-time track inspection systems. This role involves analyzing system requirements, developing data pipelines, and implementing migration methods for existing data, with a focus on managing large volumes of data securely and effectively. The position is initially for six months, with the possibility of extension and potential conversion to a permanent role.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze system requirements to design effective database solutions.
  • Manage large volumes of data securely and effectively.
  • Develop data pipelines for predictive analysis and data visualization.
  • Implement migration methods for existing data as needed.
  • Work with Big Data technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field, or equivalent work experience (5 years) with 3 years in Database Architecture or Development.
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles.
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing system requirements.
  • Knowledge of data management including permissions, recovery, security, migration, scaling, performance tuning, optimization, and monitoring.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, Views, and Triggers.
  • Experience with Database Technologies such as MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, NoSQL, and Hadoop.
  • Familiarity with AWS database services like AWS Aurora, DynamoDB, DMS, RedShift.
  • Experience with ETL tools (Talend, Informatica, Snowflake).
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle for web and desktop applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and documentation capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science or relevant field.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools.
  • Previous exposure to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Familiarity with Java or C#/.NET.
