About the position

The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) at AgFirst Farm Credit Bank is responsible for managing, securing, and handling data, databases, and pipelines. This role involves supporting live operational databases across various environments, providing consulting and mentoring to junior staff, and ensuring optimal performance and automation of database processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support AgFirst live operational databases across all environments (Production/Non-Production).
  • Identify and act on opportunities to improve performance, automate processes, and add value to databases and data pipelines.
  • Use database management system software and tools for Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and Azure.
  • Understand data and information in all its forms.
  • Develop and maintain optimal data architectures through data pipeline development.
  • Understand conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Submit time reporting and monthly status reports on time.

Requirements

  • B.S. in computer science, engineering, or a technical field, or extensive work experience as a DBA.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a DBA.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL Server or Oracle installation and configuration.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational database logical concepts and physical implementation concepts.
  • Excellent grasp of programming and software development concepts.
  • Competency in some scripting language, preferably Python.
  • Excellent skills in presenting and writing on technical topics.
