About the position

The Senior Database Administrator at Netsmart is responsible for providing operational database services, which includes owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents and requests. This role is crucial for supporting database optimization and performance on the IRIS and Cache platforms. The administrator will develop, maintain, and enhance database monitoring, operational processes, and procedures that will continually improve the operation of the entire environment. In this position, the Senior Database Administrator will perform database administration and configuration for environments where InterSystem IRIS is running, whether in the Public Cloud or On-Premises, including Database and ECP, VMs, and Kubernetes. Troubleshooting and resolving platform infrastructure problems will be a key responsibility, utilizing both native monitoring and third-party tools. The role also involves conducting advanced analysis of index and statistics needs, managing backups, restores, and recovery models, and configuring, managing, and recommending High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options. Effective communication and coordination with various teams of engineers from operations, support, engineering, networking, and security are essential. Additionally, the Senior Database Administrator will act as a source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced associates working with the InterSystems Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance database monitoring, operational processes and procedures/standards.
  • Perform database administration and configuration for InterSystem IRIS in Public Cloud and On-Prem environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform infrastructure problems using native monitoring and third-party tools.
  • Conduct advanced analysis of index and statistics needs.
  • Manage backups, restores, and recovery models.
  • Configure, manage, and recommend High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options.
  • Communicate and coordinate with teams of engineers from operations, support, engineering, networking, and security.
  • Act as a source of direction, training, and guidance for less experienced associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 1 year of SQL server management, build, configuration, and support work experience.
  • Cache/IRIS database experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
  • In-depth knowledge of IT standards, concepts, best practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for communicating with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple detailed tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, project management abilities, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in IRIS or Cache would be a plus.
