About the position

Robert Half is seeking a seasoned Senior Database Administrator with expertise in Oracle and SQL Server for a full-time, hybrid in-office position in Tampa, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Oracle databases, contributing to query optimization strategies, and managing database performance tuning. Your primary focus will be on improving operational efficiencies, maintaining security standards, and supervising disaster recovery procedures. You will work closely with engineering teams and other departments to provide technical guidance on best practices and optimization strategies. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will develop strategies to enhance the operational efficiencies of database schema, settings, SQL queries, backup/recovery processes, change data capture, and disaster recovery procedures. You will oversee the management of storage and monitor security-related aspects of the Oracle databases. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring core production system services for proper disk and CPU utilization, maintaining daily operations of internal applications, and conducting research on new products and upgrades that maximize the efficiency and scalability of the database system. Your role will also involve handling database monitoring and alerts, maintaining development, test, and UAT database systems, providing data maintenance services, and documenting database design, integration processes, and disaster recovery processes. Performance tuning and optimization will be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring that the databases operate at peak efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead in the provision of technical guidance on query optimization and best practices to engineering teams and other departments
• Develop strategies to improve operational efficiencies of database schema, settings, SQL queries, backup/recovery processes, change data capture, and disaster recovery procedures
• Oversee the management of storage and closely monitor and manage security-related aspects of the Oracle databases
• Monitor the core production system services for proper disk and CPU utilization, and maintain daily operations of internal applications
• Conduct research on new products and upgrades that maximize the efficiency and scalability of the database system
• Handle database monitoring/alerts and maintain development, test, and UAT database systems
• Provide data maintenance services and refresh as necessary while documenting database design, integration processes, and disaster recovery processes
• Perform performance tuning and optimization as required.

Requirements

• Proficiency in database management and administration, specifically with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server
• Experience with EO/IR systems
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure
• Ability to use backup technologies effectively
• Skills in cluster analysis
• Proficiency in configuration management
• Extensive knowledge in database administration
• Experience with PostgreSQL
• Ability to work in a team setting and independently when required
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database issues
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
