The Senior Database Administrator - SQL Server is responsible for designing, deploying, upgrading, and optimizing the performance of servers and related systems within their assigned technology specialty. This role is crucial in supporting customer business objectives while adhering to established timelines. The Senior Database Administrator will actively participate in performance improvement initiatives, which include documenting resolution issues, providing data on team performance metrics, and mentoring and educating lower-level staff. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure the reliability and efficiency of database systems, contributing to the overall success of the organization. In this role, the Senior Database Administrator will install, configure, and support the hardware and software necessary for the operation of assigned technologies. Ongoing maintenance is a key responsibility, which includes applying updates, patches, and anti-virus updates to ensure system integrity and security. The administrator will provide second and third-level operational support for issues escalated from the Service Desk, ensuring that all problems are resolved in a timely manner. Performance analysis, including availability, capacity, and trending analysis, will be conducted to maintain optimal system performance. The Senior Database Administrator will also troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, operating systems, and applications while maintaining enterprise service levels. Documentation related to technology installation, administration, maintenance, and disaster recovery planning will be developed and maintained. Participation in change management and performance improvement programs is expected, along with mentoring and educating lower-level staff as needed. The role operates under limited guidance, dealing with moderately complex to complex issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
