About the position

The Sr. Database Administrator at TCW will be pivotal in managing and optimizing data platforms within a hybrid environment, including SQL Server, Snowflake, and Azure Cloud databases. This role involves ensuring the health and performance of databases, implementing best practices, and developing process improvement plans for data resiliency and cost optimization. The incumbent will also provide design guidance to developers and support critical production systems.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize data platforms across hybrid environments including SQL Server, Snowflake, and Azure Cloud databases.
• Deploy migrations and ensure server health through troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
• Manage and monitor ETL processes and ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
• Perform database monitoring and troubleshooting using tools like Solarwinds DPA and Dynatrace.
• Plan, commission, and deploy database system changes in collaboration with various teams.
• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems and perform scheduled maintenance after hours.
• Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement, and respond to database backup/restore requests.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator with MS SQL Server 2016 and newer, Snowflake, and Azure SQL.
• 7+ years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Experience using TFS (or Git) for code and time-management.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Analysis Services (SSAS), Database warehouse, .NET, Windows scripting languages (PowerShell), Python, Networking, Active Directory, SAN Storage, SQL VMware implementations.
• Experience with Hybrid Cloud migrations and implementations (Azure and Snowflake).
• Snowflake (SnowPro Core, SnowPro SME) and Azure certifications (Azure Database Admin Assoc, Azure Data Fundamentals) are a plus.
• Experience with supporting terabyte and high transaction databases.
• Experience working in the financial services industry.
• Delphix experience is a definite plus.
