The Senior Database Administrator at Public Storage plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of database services to both the organization and development teams. This position requires direct engagement with Information Technology and Business stakeholders to meet the expectations outlined in the Information Technology Department's Service Level Agreement. The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for managing a client-facing production environment that operates 24/7, participating in an on-call support rotation to address any urgent database issues that may arise. In this role, the Senior Database Administrator will liaise with IT teams and business units to interpret business cases, leading to the design, installation, and configuration of large and complex OLTP (Online Transaction Processing), OLAP (Online Analytical Processing), and SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) environments. The focus will be on ensuring high availability and disaster recovery, utilizing advanced technologies such as Microsoft Clustering and Always On within the Google Cloud Platform. The position also involves providing administrative guidance for maintaining MS SQL Server databases in an enterprise environment, ensuring optimal performance and security. The Senior Database Administrator will be tasked with developing, deploying, and supporting SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) data flows and packages, as well as managing SQL Server Analysis Services cubes and Reporting Services reports. Documentation of OLTP and OLAP environments will be a key responsibility, along with the installation of upgrades and patches to existing databases. The role requires investigating and resolving performance, data accuracy, and availability issues, as well as developing processes to optimize and maintain database security. Proactive management of database jobs and system activity will be conducted using monitoring tools such as Idera Diagnostic Manager and Data Dog. Additionally, the Senior Database Administrator will create automated processes for repetitive database tasks using Powershell, SSIS, or TSQL, and will manage multiple tasks and projects to ensure that requirements are met. Regular reporting on progress and measurement against goals will be expected, along with direct collaboration with development teams to deploy code changes in accordance with the change management framework.
