About the position

SS&C Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join the mainframe Db2 for z/OS Database Application Support team. The role involves designing and developing data storage systems for high-traffic, business-critical applications, and requires strong troubleshooting skills in Db2 for z/OS. The position demands off-hours availability and participation in a 24 x 7 on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data storage systems and processes for high-traffic internet site communications and network-based product systems.
• Lead the design of enterprise storage environments, including storage arrays and Network Attached Storage (NAS).
• Develop solutions for reliable data storage management, security, backup, restoration, archiving, and replication.
• Assist with the implementation of new storage technology to improve infrastructure service.
• Lead small to moderately complex projects requiring high judgment and resourcefulness.
• Evaluate complex issues and develop creative solutions, recommending new procedures.

Requirements

• 7+ years of overall IT experience on IBM mainframe, with 3+ years on Db2 for z/OS.
• Deep knowledge of Db2 for z/OS database components and concepts.
• Proficient in Db2 for z/OS DDL, DML, DCL.
• Mastery of IBM DB2 utilities: Unload, Load, REORG, Image Copy, RUNSTATS.
• Ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve database issues.
• Experience in evaluating, designing, and deploying high-performance database designs.
• Experience managing and migrating database change requests.
• Ability to analyze, test, and recommend new database features and products.
• Ability to perform database recoveries and support Disaster Recovery.
• Excellent communication skills, written and interpersonal.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with IBM Db2 Version 12+.
• Experience with IBM Db2 Administration Tool.
• Experience with database performance monitoring tools like Query Monitor and SQL Performance Analyzer.
• SQL query development and performance analysis skills.
• Experience with mainframe data integration with cloud environments.
• REXX, ISPF, CLIST, or other database automation development skills.
• Experience with Data Studio and Native SQL Stored Procedures.
