About the position

The Senior Database Administrator will provide leadership in the planning, design, implementation, operations, and management of database applications to support the University’s business objectives. This role involves ensuring the integrity and security of databases, troubleshooting performance issues, and collaborating with various divisions to enhance service delivery and usability through the development of Key Performance Indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, maintain, and secure the integrity of the University's databases.
  • Execute and maintain secure backup and recovery procedures for all databases.
  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and tune databases to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in the evaluation of database and application products.
  • Coordinate database maintenance with other IT and end-user units of the University.
  • Co-support the administration of Oracle application functions including installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance.
  • Maintain vendor and custom patches, fixes, and tuning as required.
  • Assist in project schedules and resource requirements for projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum four years' experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Demonstrated experience managing production and development application environments for Oracle.
  • Familiarity with MySQL and SQL Server back-end databases.
  • Experience ensuring applications and databases operate efficiently and maintain service levels.
  • Experience in the installation and configuration of applications and databases.
  • Experience in patching and maintenance of applications and databases.
  • Experience identifying, resolving, and raising awareness of complex application and data issues.
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation for supported applications.
  • Experience facilitating testing for applications adhering to best practices.
  • Familiarity with process improvement through automation, including Windows/Unix scripting knowledge.
  • Experience assisting in the development, investigation, and design of new or existing applications.

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Backup.
  • Installation and use of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as a Service.
  • Experience with Integration Hubs (MuleSoft, TIBCO, etc.).
