About the position

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, optimizing, and securing database solutions that support the organization's applications and services across various environments including on-prem, hybrid, and cloud. This role involves monitoring database performance, managing access controls, applying data governance measures, and ensuring high availability and data integrity through disaster recovery strategies. The position requires collaboration across teams to accomplish project-related tasks and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, optimize, and secure database solutions.
  • Monitor and oversee database performance tuning, data purging, and indexing strategies.
  • Implement and manage access controls following organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain user accounts, roles, and permissions; conduct regular access reviews.
  • Respond promptly to access-related requests and incidents.
  • Apply Data Governance measures to meet compliance requirements and data security objectives.
  • Collaborate in regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Monitor database activities for suspicious behavior and implement encryption and data masking techniques.
  • Maintain up-to-date security patches and software versions.
  • Ensure high availability and data integrity through disaster recovery strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, minimizing downtime.
  • Document database configurations, policies, and procedures for the team and organization.
  • Provide input on the integration of cloud database platforms and Database DevOps practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 6 years of experience in a database administrator role.
  • Proficient in database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
  • Proficient with database architecture: on-prem, cloud, and hybrid.
  • Experience in performance tuning, security best practices, and backup and recovery.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, access control mechanisms, data governance, and privacy regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and integrate complex data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and on individual tasks.
