About the position

The Senior Database Administrator role is a hybrid contract position based in Atlanta, GA, requiring over 6 years of experience. The primary focus of this role is to provide comprehensive database support for business applications, ensuring optimal performance, security, and compliance. The position involves managing database access, performing maintenance tasks, troubleshooting issues, and supporting disaster recovery efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides database support for business applications and schedules backup jobs for user databases.
  • Provides access control including password resets, account creation, and deletion.
  • Checks IP compliance through violation report reviews and compliance updates.
  • Performs data purging and data replication activities.
  • Researches connectivity issues and recurring errors in application databases.
  • Responds to database alerts and takes appropriate actions.
  • Provides escalation Level 1 and 2 Technical 24x7 support.
  • Performs database creations and application database maintenance.
  • Conducts performance tuning and troubleshooting for databases.
  • Manages database account access and database object changes.
  • Ensures monitoring and alerts are properly in place to meet requirements.
  • Performs application database and OS scripting.
  • Reviews Information Protection compliance reports and notifications.
  • Performs database recovery from logs, hot & cold backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Conducts database creation, decommissioning, and updates/migrations.
  • Monitors and reports on existing database instance and server activities.
  • Provides escalation Level 2 Technical 24x7 support.
  • Performs Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery activities during events.
  • Plans, schedules, and implements operating system software installs and patches.
  • Implements database security and auditing features with periodic reviews.
  • Conducts root cause analysis for repeated incidents.
  • Performs heterogeneous database interface deployment and support.
  • Plans and develops processes for database updates and migrations.
  • Develops capacity planning processes for monitoring database activities.
  • Conducts team training and is responsible for resource management.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in database administration.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems and performance tuning.
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Proficiency in database scripting and automation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and provide technical support.

  • Familiarity with cloud database solutions.
