About the position

The Senior Database Administrator at DCS Corp is responsible for providing advanced database administration support to the F-18 Integrated Product Team (IPT) at NAWCWD China Lake. This role involves managing SQL Server databases, ensuring data integrity, implementing security measures, and supporting server virtualization. The position requires collaboration with IT management and other technical teams to achieve project goals and improve organizational processes.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, harden, and maintain SQL Server databases.
• Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and performance tuning.
• Monitor database performance and identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Ensure data integrity and consistency through regular data validation.
• Provide support for server virtualization using Hyper-V or VMware.
• Support, implement, and comply with cybersecurity requirements and controls.
• Provide technical support for organizational projects.
• Coordinate activities with IT Management, other technical teams, and stakeholders.
• Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve the IPT's mission.
• Provide implementation support for projects and new services.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Participate in research and development to improve the organization's environment and processes.
• Mentor junior and journeymen administrators.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
• High school diploma/GED plus 20+ years of experience, or Associate's-level (AA/AS/Technical school) plus 14 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree in an IT field with 12 years of experience.
• Advanced proficiency in popular Database Management Systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or MongoDB.
• Mastery of SQL for data querying, manipulation, and management.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server and enterprise services.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and management tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
• Knowledge of database design principles and best practices.
• Must be able to be granted a Top Secret security clearance and maintain one for the duration of employment.
• Must be able to work onsite - This position is not remote work eligible.
• Windows Operating System and Security+ or other certifications required within 6 months of start date to comply with DoD 8140.
• Must be willing and able to work after hours/weekend support for patching and maintenance as needed.
• Excellent communication skills and able to liaise with outside agencies and ability to work independently.
• Possess professionalism, courtesy, high moral character, and integrity.
