About the position

JANUS Research Group is currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Database Administrator to support the Architecture Integration and Management Division (AIMD), an element of the Futures Integration Directorate (FID) reporting to the Army Futures Commands (AFC) Futures and Concepts Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management and security certification processes, particularly under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) guidelines. This role requires an active Secret clearance and a commitment to maintaining security protocols while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex databases, ensuring that access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection, and security are all effectively managed. You will also oversee the maintenance of database dictionaries, monitor standards and procedures, and integrate systems through database design. Your expertise will be crucial in performing IAT Level II functions as described in 8570.01, and you will be expected to work competently across all phases of database management. In this role, you will collaborate with a large multi-disciplined team, managing multiple concurrent and highly visible projects. Your ability to analyze issues, identify risks, and implement corrective actions will be essential to the success of the team and the organization. Experience working with the United States military is highly desired, as it will enhance your understanding of the unique requirements and challenges faced in this environment.

Responsibilities

  • Test, evaluate, and prepare MS SQL and My SQL systems for security certification under NIST and RMF for IS guidance.
  • Perform IAT Level II functions as described in 8570.01.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex databases, including access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection, and security.
  • Maintain database dictionaries and monitor standards and procedures.
  • Integrate systems through effective database design.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a large multi-disciplined team.
  • Monitor the progress of multiple concurrent and highly visible projects and requirements.
  • Analyze issues and take required corrective actions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with database management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with a BA/BS degree or 12+ years of experience without a degree.
  • Previous experience in testing, evaluating, and preparing databases for security certification under NIST and RMF for IS guidance.
  • At least 7 years of experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows and Linux deployed databases.
  • Experience maintaining local database servers, implementing upgrades, patches, and managing physical and logical system access.
  • Ability to work as part of a large multi-disciplined team.
  • Strong analytical skills to monitor project progress and address issues as they arise.
  • Skilled in risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience working with the United States military is highly desired.
  • Must meet DoDD 8570.01 certification requirements for IAT Level II baseline (Security+ and computing environment certifications).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
