About the position

The Senior Database Developer will lead the database development efforts for the DCFS Server Modernization Project, focusing on migrating legacy applications to modern Microsoft Servers. This role involves reviewing applications, implementing necessary changes, and ensuring thorough testing before decommissioning outdated platforms. The position requires strong technical leadership and effective communication with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead the database development efforts for the DCFS Server Modernization Project.
• Conduct an initial 3-week onsite period, working 3 days per week at 1 North Old State Capital Plaza, Springfield, IL.
• Post-introductory period, work onsite 3 days per month, with potential for up to 3 additional days per month as needed.
• Engage in full-stack development, focusing on database technologies, including Microsoft SQL Server.
• Develop, test, and implement database modifications, re-platforming, rebuilding, or decommissioning as necessary.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
• Provide strong technical/functional leadership and clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience as a Senior Database Developer, with a strong background in leading large-scale IT projects.
• Extensive experience in Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Proficiency with JIRA and Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including database migration and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in ASP.Net application development concepts.
• Experience with Restful API development.
• Experience in application migration to new hosting platforms.
• Proven ability to provide technical/functional leadership, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with Health and Human Services Agencies.
• Familiarity with legacy and modern Microsoft Server environments, including virtualization.
