About the position

The Senior Database Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining database solutions that support web applications, with a strong emphasis on Oracle database applications. This role requires troubleshooting existing applications to ensure their performance and reliability, while also collaborating with business units to identify project requirements and improve internal processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business units to identify project requirements.
  • Analyze technical requirements and feasibility for projects.
  • Provide cost/benefit analyses for proposed projects.
  • Plan, organize tasks, and coordinate with development teams.
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements.
  • Perform advanced programming assignments following established standards.
  • Design application and database components.
  • Analyze business models and customer requirements to build internet solutions.
  • Write optimized SQL queries and work with various databases.
  • Mitigate risks in technically complex projects.
  • Guide full stack developers in creating performant queries.
  • Maintain and modify existing applications and documentation.
  • Provide support for critical application issues.
  • Analyze and improve SQL query performance.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for production problems.
  • Coordinate efforts of other developers.
  • Conduct research on modern technologies and tools.
  • Mentor and train development teams.
  • Manage projects and report progress.
  • Make presentations to management and peer groups.
  • Schedule and lead project meetings.
  • Provide tier 2 on-call support for critical issues.
  • Analyze and correct program performance deficiencies.
  • Attend management meetings on behalf of the team.
  • Perform application server maintenance tasks.
  • Address internal audit concerns for compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of IT experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing OLTP database applications in Oracle and UNIX/Linux/Solaris environments.
  • Proficient in PL/SQL Types, Collections, SQL Loader, Functions, Procedures, Packages, Materialized Views, Triggers, Complex SQLs, and SQL Reports.
  • Experience with PL/SQL techniques in LOBs, Multilingual character conversion, and Oracle Performance Tuning.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, data transformation, data structures, metadata, and workload management.
  • Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines and architectures.
