About the position

The Senior Database Engineer at Exeter Finance is a pivotal role responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of all operational and reporting database systems. This position requires a deep understanding of data modeling and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, as the engineer will construct conceptual, logical, and physical data models while developing and maintaining business logic within stored procedures and ETL transformations. The role emphasizes the importance of quality assurance and timely delivery of data, ensuring that database solutions are robust and reliable. In this position, the Senior Database Engineer will manage SQL Server in an enterprise environment, which includes tasks such as installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, and schema changes. The engineer will also be responsible for translating stakeholder requirements from formal documents into effective database designs. This involves contributing to an IT roadmap that is forward-thinking, aiming to reduce maintenance costs while meeting or exceeding business objectives. The role promotes a constructive and positive team environment, fostering openness, information sharing, inquisitiveness, problem-solving, and support for common goals. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop operational and reporting database systems utilizing the latest techniques in data modeling and ETL concepts.
  • Construct conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Develop and maintain business logic within stored procedures and ETL transformations.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and correct data and user-related system errors, ensuring data integrity.
  • Manage SQL Server in an enterprise environment, including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, and schema changes.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements from formal requirements documents into database design.
  • Contribute to support an IT roadmap that reduces maintenance costs while meeting business objectives.
  • Promote a constructive and positive team environment, maintaining openness and information sharing.
  • Ensure compliance with Exeter's policies & procedures, safety, state and federal laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server and database management.
  • Experience with data modeling and ETL processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database issues effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
