About the position

The Senior Database Developer at Experian will play a crucial role in supporting high-volume and personalized outbound interactions through data and processes. This position involves collaboration with CRM Program Managers and IT partners to understand data needs and tools for deploying communications via email, SMS, and mobile push. The developer will be responsible for creating production-level SQL code, analyzing data flows, automating data quality monitoring, and troubleshooting existing SQL jobs, all while becoming proficient in various CRM applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop large-scale, SQL data pipelines with job logging.
  • Conduct data discovery and analysis to support new Experian Consumer Services (ECS) digital products and programs.
  • Investigate data errors/discrepancies and SQL job/file transmission failures.
  • Define data requirements/design to support ECS consumer products and outbound marketing programs.
  • Develop source to target data mapping and data flow documentation.
  • Develop well-documented, performance-optimized SQL scripts for production deployment.
  • Troubleshoot and update existing SQL jobs that error/time out or require performance tuning.
  • Create job monitoring automation and error notifications.
  • Draft and present data design solutions/recommendations to tech and business teams.
  • Learn new tools and become a power-user of applications, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Alteryx, Jira, Confluence, Lucid Chart, and Unica Campaign.
  • Support CRM Ops center of excellence. Identify innovation opportunities, inefficiencies, and opportunities for additional automation.
  • Communicate with teams, including Technical Teams, Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing, Analytics, Web Operations, Legal, and Marketing.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in advanced enterprise SQL data development.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge and familiarity with large-scale, customer-centric, and marketing data sets.
  • Experience across all stages of data analysis, design, and development.
  • Experience in Data Management/Design structures/approaches - OLTP, OLAP, Dimensions, Facts, and Data modeling.
  • Expertise in modular and reusable code development.
  • Ability to analyze and understand previously developed SQL Logic and data workflows.
  • Knowledge in data validation and transformations across source to target systems.
  • Expertise in SQL development and complex SQL queries for validation.
  • Understanding and generation of data flows and data models.
  • Development of test strategy, test plan/design, and execution of test cases.
  • Overall knowledge of CRM technology infrastructure and integration of different tools/services for data-driven marketing.
  • Experience processing large, complex clickstream logs.
  • Customer-centric data design and development.
  • Experience in outbound campaign management.
  • Hands-on programming experience.
  • Experience using Python for data processing.
  • Hands-on experience with Unica campaign management tool.
  • Experience with Customer Data Platforms (CDP).
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud development.
  • Experience with the AWS data stack - (e.g. Redshift, S3, Dynamo).
  • Proficiency with GitHub (or other version control management practices).
