About the position

The Senior Database Developer is responsible for the design, development, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of database solutions supporting web applications for Sher-link projects, particularly focusing on Oracle database applications. This role involves troubleshooting existing applications, optimizing performance, and providing technical expertise throughout the system development life cycle. The Developer will also assist in impact analyses of database changes and maintain version control using GIT.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business units to identify business requirements for projects.
  • Analyze project aspects and provide feasibility and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Plan and organize tasks, report on progress, and coordinate with development teams.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements.
  • Perform complex programming assignments adhering to established standards.
  • Design application and database components for development projects.
  • Analyze business models and customer requirements to build Internet solutions.
  • Guide full stack developers in design approaches and teach them to create performant queries.
  • Maintain and modify Sher-link applications and document changes.
  • Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements and implement them.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in critical production problem investigations.
  • Proactively search for improvements on non-performant database programs.
  • Conduct research into modern technologies and mentor development teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of IT experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing OLTP database applications in Oracle 10g/11g and UNIX/LINUX/Solaris environments.
  • Experience with PL/SQL Types, Collections, SQL Loader, Functions, Procedures, Packages, Materialized views, Triggers, and Complex SQLs.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, and building data pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle RAC clusters and Exadata systems.
  • Knowledge of modern technologies, tools, and frameworks.
