Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Database Engineer/Administrator to join our team in the DMV area. The Database Engineer/Administrator is responsible for overseeing the design, development, support, and maintenance of the organization's database systems, which includes managing hardware, software, and network components. They manage vendor or open-source database software, optimize database objects for enhanced performance, conduct capacity planning and usage forecasting, and provide comprehensive technical reviews. Additionally, they oversee the support for database administration requirements, make recommendations on technical direction, extract and load data, establish cybersecurity measures, manage hardware and software updates, monitor performance, oversee the configuration of servers and databases, maintain data integrity, handle sensitive data ethically, and oversee technical support to database users. The Database Engineer/Administrator also assumes the role of supervising and mentoring subordinate project staff members. They collaborate with other Database Engineer/Administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, support, and maintenance of the organization's database systems.
  • Manage vendor or open-source database software.
  • Optimize database objects for enhanced performance.
  • Conduct capacity planning and usage forecasting.
  • Provide comprehensive technical reviews.
  • Support database administration requirements and make recommendations on technical direction.
  • Extract and load data as needed.
  • Establish cybersecurity measures for database systems.
  • Manage hardware and software updates.
  • Monitor database performance and oversee server configurations.
  • Maintain data integrity and handle sensitive data ethically.
  • Provide technical support to database users.
  • Supervise and mentor subordinate project staff members.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and 4 years of additional experience or Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a required Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years of position-specific relevant experience.
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level II Certification within 6 months of commencing work on the Task Order.
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or a related discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Development or related discipline.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level III Certification.
  • Relevant industry standard certifications such as Oracle, Microsoft or AWS.
