About the position

CGI Federal is seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer for an exciting opportunity within our Intel Community. This position is located in Reston, VA.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex database management systems workstations and servers on multiple operating systems in both cloud-hosted and on-premises systems.
• Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.
• Coordinate, direct, and perform complex database software installations and upgrades to operating systems and related database software packages.
• Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
• Continually monitor and tune multiple database systems and databases to achieve optimum performance levels.
• Ensure database data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate solutions of varying complexities.
• Ensure database recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of database backups and archive operations.
• Plan and implement the modernization of database implementations.
• Develop, implement, and promote standard operating procedures and schedules.
• Conduct audits of databases to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
• Develop and implement new standards, policies and procedures.
• Work closely with Systems Admins, database engineers, and software developers to help determine and develop the database software and databases that will be implemented.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related STEM field.
• Strong and demonstrated proficiency in relational database design and maintenance.
• 5+ years experience of database design and development in Defense or secured Government Installations.
• Experience within a lean Agile best practices (Jira) and version control (Git).
• Advanced experience with SQL scripting.
• 3+ years experience with programming tools (Java, Python).
• Cloud platform experience, preferably AWS.
• 3+ years experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
• DevOps experience (Docker, Kubernetes) and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience implementing graph database design and visualization.
• Cloud Certification - preferable AWS.
• Experience with Machine Learning models.
