About the position

The Senior Database Manager at Leidos is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering database systems that support mission operations. This role involves managing the life cycle of database systems, ensuring performance optimization, and facilitating data migration from legacy systems. The position requires a strong focus on collaboration within small teams and a commitment to innovative solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deliver database systems.
• Manage life cycle support of database systems including patches and upgrades.
• Diagnose and resolve problems related to database systems.
• Monitor and improve database performance.
• Migrate data from legacy systems to modern systems.
• Design and manage backup and recovery processes.
• Develop continuity of operations plans.
• Select appropriate database technologies for specific requirements.
• Acquire data and coordinate data flow.
• Promote data quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or Master's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.
• An Associate's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience or high school diploma/GED plus 8 years of relevant experience may be considered.
• Computer Science (CS) degree or related field.
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Experience with Linux system administration.
• Experience with VM environments of various operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

• DevOps experience.
• Experience with NiagaraFiles (NiFi).
• Experience with IAVAs, patching, Tenable, Nessus.
• Knowledge of security hardening procedures for Linux.
