We are currently seeking a Senior Database Manager to join our prototype development program, which focuses on rapid prototyping and new development to support mission operations. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and delivering database systems. You will manage the life cycle support of these systems, which includes applying patches and upgrades, diagnosing and resolving problems, monitoring and improving performance, and migrating data from legacy systems to modern systems. Additionally, you will design and manage backup and recovery processes, as well as continuity of operations plans. Selecting appropriate database technologies for specific requirements, such as online transaction processing systems (OLTP), decision support systems (DSS), and data warehouses, will also be a key part of your responsibilities. Your role will involve acquiring data, coordinating data flow, and promoting data quality to ensure that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deliver database systems.
  • Manage life cycle support of database systems, including applying patches and upgrades, diagnosing and resolving problems, and monitoring performance.
  • Migrate data from legacy systems to modern systems.
  • Design and manage backup and recovery processes and continuity of operations plans.
  • Select appropriate database technologies for specific requirements, such as OLTP, DSS, and data warehouses.
  • Acquire data, coordinate data flow, and promote data quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.
  • An Associate's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED plus 8 years of relevant experience may be considered for individuals with in-depth experience.
  • Computer Science (CS) degree or related field.
  • TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana.
  • Experience with Linux system administration.
  • Experience with VM environments of various operating systems with tool augmentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • DevOps experience.
  • Experience with NiagaraFiles (NiFi).
  • Experience with IAVAs, patching, Tenable, Nessus.
  • Knowledge of security hardening procedures for Linux.
