About the position

The Senior DB2 Database Administrator at Fiserv is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the organization's databases across AIX, Linux, and Windows platforms. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems while ensuring data integrity, security, and availability. The administrator will optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with IT teams to support various applications and projects.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 database systems on AIX, Linux, and Windows platforms
• Monitor and manage database performance, capacity, and health to ensure optimal functionality and availability while addressing potential security breaches
• Perform regular backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to safeguard critical data
• Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls and data encryption, to protect sensitive information
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing SQL queries, and tuning database configurations to enhance system performance
• Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures
• Prepare regular reports on database performance, growth, and capacity planning
• Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability in case of failures within security policies and standards to comply with relevant regulations and best practices

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with specific expertise in DB2 on Linux platforms
• 3+ years of experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and monitoring tasks
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience

Nice-to-haves

• DB2 experience with Windows and AIX platforms
• Experience with other database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) and platforms
• Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database)
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)
• Experience with database clustering and high availability solutions
