About the position

The Senior Defense Technologist - Air Warfare Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is responsible for providing high-demand technical expertise in air warfare technologies and systems. This role involves collaborating with the Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence customers to deliver effective solutions for critical national defense programs. The position emphasizes employee ownership, professional development, and a commitment to quality service and ethical practices.

Responsibilities

• Experience in active-duty military service, support contractor and/or DoD civilian in a warfare specialty at progressively more difficult levels in planning, developing and executing technical projects of a research and development (R&D) nature.
• Conceiving, planning and conducting research studies combining operational expertise with novel technology approaches and sophisticated research techniques to assess military effectiveness and engineering viability.
• Demonstrated skill in addressing unique or controversial problems that significantly impact major Department of Defense programs.
• Utilizing advanced techniques, theories, precepts, and practices in technological programs, preferably those that have transitioned to operational use.

Requirements

• A minimum of 15 years of experience with bolstering the development and implementation of advanced air warfare technologies and systems.
• Active TOP SECRET clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI).
• MS in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, or related discipline is required; PhD preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• At least seven years extensive experience, background and knowledge of program transition efforts is highly desirable.
• Joint/COCOM staff experience highly desirable.
• Experience supporting the OSD and/or DARPA highly desirable.
