About the position

The Senior Designer, Interior at AbbVie is responsible for developing program requirements, layout plans, estimates, and schedules for the design and construction of executive offices and common areas within AbbVie buildings. This role ensures that all design projects adhere to AbbVie standards, are completed within budget, and meet functional, code, and engineering requirements. The designer will also support brand quality by collaborating with architectural firms and ensuring ergonomic workspace design to promote employee health and wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop program requirements, scope layout plans, estimates, and schedules for design and construction projects.
  • Implement and maintain interior design standards content and documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of drawings and CADD files with AbbVie standards.
  • Complete projects within budget parameters, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Review and approve architectural firm designs to meet brand standards.
  • Ensure ergonomic design of workspaces, including proper lighting and soundproofing.
  • Manage communications for timely submittals and design reviews.
  • Direct and monitor site engineers to meet project schedules.
  • Organize product specification cataloging and documentation.
  • Conduct research on consumer, industry, and supplier trends to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Analyze and approve invoices for project payments.
  • Coordinate internal and external engineering resources throughout the design and construction process.
  • Develop external engineering resources and identify contractor needs.
  • Work with divisional clients to document office needs and provide cost estimates and schedules.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of Interior Design/Architectural experience, preferably in an office environment.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of project management experience.
  • High knowledge of furniture systems and understanding of facilities and building systems.
  • B.A. in Architecture, BA Interior Design, or equivalent experience.
