About the position

As a Senior Designer-Interiors at Gensler, you will work part-time in the Houston office, focusing on creating innovative and environmentally conscious interior spaces. This role requires a blend of creativity and technical skills, along with a strong understanding of the design and production process. You will lead design assignments, collaborate with various teams, and mentor junior designers, all while fostering a respectful and inspiring design environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead interior design assignments including programming, conceptual design, space planning, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Provide strategically minded design support for the organization, production, and execution of design projects.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with internal/external core & shell teams, professional consultants, and other strategic partners.
  • Participate in design iterations with team members using 3D modeling software such as Revit, Sketchup, and Enscape, along with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Generate interior architectural, finish, and reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and details with corresponding specifications and schedules.
  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators to meet design and budgetary goals.
  • Guide and mentor junior designers, assisting in leading multiple projects at a high level.
  • Contribute to office activities and communicate key firm initiatives and learning programs.
  • Promote and model an inter-disciplinary design approach that enhances Gensler's culture of design quality and excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design.
  • 10+ years of relevant interior design experience with a portfolio demonstrating various phases of project work.
  • NCIDQ certification required.
  • Proficient in Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, and/or other modeling software.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and universal design concepts.
  • Ability to communicate and present design concepts and rationales.
  • Experience with projects in workplace, hospitality, and mixed-use practice areas.
