About the position

The Senior DevOps Cloud Infrastructure and Application Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting a PaaS-private cloud financial services solution. This position involves working with a distributed team to enhance and manage Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability and efficient deployment of applications. The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver quality solutions, improve CI/CD processes, and build infrastructure applications that support automation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a regionally disbursed team of Engineers, providing guidance and feedback.
  • Deliver projects within the defined scope and timeline.
  • Implement and improve Kubernetes clusters as software services in SSNC private cloud.
  • Collaborate with product owners, subject matter experts, and peers to deliver quality solutions.
  • Build infrastructure applications that support automation and maintenance of highly available Kubernetes clusters.
  • Integrate application monitoring and alerting for applications running in Kubernetes clusters.
  • Enhance Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) in the software lifecycle.
  • Build common components for reuse across the organization, maintain documentation, demo applications, and review pull requests.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug enterprise, distributed, horizontally scalable, messaging-based cloud applications.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring for new positions.
  • Explore and prototype new ways to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a software development role.
  • 3 years of experience with containerization technologies and Kubernetes orchestration and management.
  • 3 years of Kubernetes deployment and manifest management experience with Helm.
  • Proven ability using different operating systems: RedHat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server (2012/2016/2019), Windows 10, Windows 7, IBM Z/OS (OS 390), IBM Z/Linux (RedHat Enterprise Linux).
  • 5 years of experience scripting with multiple tools/languages (e.g., shell, Python, Groovy, ICETOOLS, CLIST, PowerShell, Terraform, Ruby).
  • Proven ability with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Groovy, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Golang, IBM-REXX, Cobol, JCL, IBM-Assembler).
  • 5 years of experience in developing code management and configuring multi-tier web applications environment.
  • 5 years of experience with developing and managing tools to support Build & Deployment support model.
  • Proven Monitoring and Alerting skills with Splunk, ELK, or related plug-ins.
  • 3 years of experience working with ELK/Beats for log-shipping and Splunk, WebSphere MQ, RabbitMQ or related tools for messaging.
  • 3 years of experience with DB2, MySQL, and Oracle.
  • Knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services.
  • 5 years of experience with Git/GitHub and similar version control tooling.
  • Proven ability in an Agile, Sprint-based SDLC with Jira and Confluence.
