About the position

The Senior DevOps Engineer position is a contract role based in Atlanta, GA, offering remote work flexibility. This role focuses on leveraging cutting-edge technologies, particularly within the Google Cloud Platform and Terraform, to enhance the infrastructure and deployment processes for a company in the quick service restaurant industry. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a team, contributing to meaningful projects while maintaining a supportive work-life balance.

Responsibilities

• Use monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Application Insights, Prometheus) to track the health and performance of Google applications and identify any bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
• Manage and refine CI/CD pipelines specifically for Google applications, integrating with GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible to provision, update, and manage cloud infrastructure.
• Respond to high-priority alerts for Google services, troubleshoot issues in real-time, and collaborate with development teams for quick resolution.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams on goals and issues.

Requirements

• Proficiency with AWS and Google Cloud Platform Services.
• Extensive experience with PowerShell scripting.
• 5+ years of experience with GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine).
• Coding experience with Python or Java.
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with automation tools (e.g., Chef, Puppet, SaltStack) to streamline infrastructure configuration and manage system consistency.
• Familiarity with managing and optimizing databases.
• Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform services like Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and IAM.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java/Golang) for developing automation tools, custom scripts, or troubleshooting complex systems.
