About the position

The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a crucial role in the Compute Services team at SoFi, focusing on the design, development, and delivery of foundational cloud infrastructure on AWS. This position requires a skilled engineer with a strong background in cloud technologies, particularly in infrastructure-as-code solutions, to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the company's cloud services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement solutions for a unified platform for EKS, compute, and storage on AWS using infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Tackle diverse technical challenges with creative problem-solving and sound judgment.
  • Take responsibility for projects impacting multiple teams, resolving escalations, and driving projects to successful outcomes.
  • Identify potential project risks and communicate them to management, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Build relationships across teams to understand stakeholder needs and facilitate collaboration.
  • Embrace a fail-fast approach, iterating quickly to learn and drive innovation.
  • Identify areas for improvement in existing processes, infrastructure, or tools, and initiate change.
  • Support junior engineers by sharing knowledge and elevating team-wide technical practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience, or Master's degree and 3+ years of related experience, or PhD with relevant experience, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure best practices, especially in containers, networking, storage, and compute.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, or similar, along with software design principles.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) practices and tools like Terraform.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems while balancing technical trade-offs and business needs.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and build trust with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience automating infrastructure tasks to increase efficiency.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as ArgoCD, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Datadog or Splunk.
  • Experience with security and compliance in cloud environments.
  • Experience providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $108,800.00 - $204,000.00 annually, based on experience and location.
