About the position

NetImpact Strategies has an opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer - GIS Specialist to join our talented Professional Services team. The Senior DevOps Engineer will support ongoing Information Technology (IT) Operations services for our Federal Civilian client. This role is crucial as the Senior DevOps Engineer is a platform team developer who develops and manages the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines specifically for Geospatial applications. The ideal candidate will bring forward innovative solution ideas that support collaboration with IT Operations leadership and act as an expert in ESRI applications and APIs. A top-notch DevOps Engineer should possess exceptional communication skills, be knowledgeable about the latest industry trends, and demonstrate a high level of innovation. In this position, the Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for geospatial applications, working closely with development teams to debug and enhance these pipelines. The role involves working with various technologies including ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, GeoCue LiDAR Server, Voyager Server, .NET, JavaScript, and Python. The engineer will also participate in plans to migrate on-premise applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS), develop and maintain custom application monitoring, reports, and health checks, and utilize DevOps tools like Jenkins. Additionally, the engineer will perform root cause analysis, design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance, and recommend cost-effective IT operations solutions that provide long-term scalability while anticipating future growth and performance needs. The Senior DevOps Engineer will also be tasked with developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code in support of geospatial applications, managing configuration for the automation of installation and configuration of these applications, and working with automation platforms such as Terraform and Puppet. Furthermore, the engineer will utilize monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, X-Ray, and CloudWatch to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains CI/CD pipelines for geospatial applications.
  • Works closely with development teams to debug and add new functionality to CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participates in plans to migrate on-premise applications to Amazon Web Services.
  • Develops and maintains custom application monitoring, reports, and health checks.
  • Works with DevOps tools like Jenkins.
  • Performs root cause analysis.
  • Designs procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Recommends cost-effective, technically feasible IT operations solutions that provide long term scalability, and anticipate future growth and performance needs.
  • Develops and maintains Infrastructure as Code in support of geospatial applications.
  • Develops and maintains configuration management for the automation of install and configuration of geospatial applications.
  • Works with automation platforms like Terraform, Puppet.
  • Works with monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, X-Ray, CloudWatch.

Requirements

  • M.S. or B.S. in a degree such as Geographic Information Science or Computer Science.
  • 5 years of experience in this role or a similar role.
  • Experience providing technical leadership in creation and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrates a leadership mindset, solid operational experience, and the ability to problem-solve.
  • Must have a problem-solving attitude and a collaborative team spirit.
  • Capable of organizing, tracking, and managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Expertise in Python development.
  • Expertise in architecting and administering ArcGIS Enterprise products such as: ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Data Store.
  • Expertise in ESRI APIs.
  • Strong experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong experience with file-based storage systems.
  • Working knowledge of LiDAR.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud technologies such as AWS.
  • Working knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS based systems.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and .NET applications.
