About the position

The Senior DevSecOps Engineer at Synectic Solutions Inc. is responsible for developing modular cloud technologies and optimized infrastructure to support the U.S. Navy's Spectral Program. This hybrid role involves working on CI/CD pipelines and ensuring high-quality software delivery in distributed environments, with a focus on security and compliance. The engineer will collaborate within an Agile team to enhance the capabilities of the Spectral system, which is critical for addressing complex cyber and electronic threats.

Responsibilities

• Deploy highly available and scalable infrastructure as code across distributed cloud and on-prem data centers.
• Deploy distributed databases and message queue technologies like Kafka, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
• Automate and create repeatable CI/CD processes for distributed environments.
• Implement zero-downtime strategies for blue-green deployments in distributed environments.
• Maintain continuous authority to field CI/CD pipeline technologies for application deployment.
• Provision infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Ansible, and Helm charts to minimize downtime.
• Implement health and status remoting capabilities across distributed environments.
• Enable optimized networking solutions using VPNs, VPC peering, and service mesh technologies.
• Ensure compliance with data dissemination for distributed systems like JICD.
• Employ best security and encryption practices for scaled distributed systems.
• Implement chaos engineering practices to improve fault tolerance in distributed environments.
• Facilitate cross-team communications and provide mentorship in software application designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, System Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Software Engineering or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of scripting and programming languages (Python, Java, Bash, Go).
• Experience with infrastructure configuration management and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes) in distributed environments.
• Strong background in Linux administration (RedHat and CentOS), microservices, and distributed cloud deployments.
• Active Top Secret/SCI DoD Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and AWS certifications.
• Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA).
• Experience with automation/configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
• Experience managing CI/CD toolchains (Certified Jenkins Engineer, Gitlab).
• Experience with container automation and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker, etc).
• Hashicorp certified Terraform Associate.
• Familiarity with security methodologies and tools (SonarQube, etc).
• Experience in scripting and programming automation (Python, Bash, etc).
• Knowledge of microservice architectures and serverless computing security.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, AWS Certified Security, etc).
