About the position

Aquent is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our innovative and collaborative team. This fully remote role provides the opportunity to make a significant impact by developing a secure, stable, and scalable infrastructure based on Kubernetes within AWS. The position involves working closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and using automation tools to streamline processes and eliminate bottlenecks, ensuring a high-quality, reliable infrastructure for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain a stable and efficient platform that supports rapid development and growth within the organization.
  • Manage and enhance our production SaaS environment using Infrastructure as Code, ensuring the infrastructure is secure, scalable, and high-performing.
  • Work closely with developers and cross-functional teams to identify challenges, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement across systems and workflows.
  • Provide ongoing support for infrastructure, security, monitoring, and incident response to ensure system reliability and uptime.
  • Write and review technical designs, ensuring infrastructure improvements align with organizational goals and technical standards.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies, champion infrastructure improvements, and optimize workflows to eliminate bottlenecks and enhance overall development velocity.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, encouraging knowledge-sharing and promoting growth within the team.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring rapid response to incidents and minimizing downtime.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously enhance the platform and engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of AWS services, including CloudFormation, Lambda, EC2 Autoscaling, IAM, VPC management, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
  • Extensive experience with Kubernetes, with particular expertise in Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Proficiency with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
  • Solid experience in building, using, and supporting continuous integration systems, with expertise in Jenkins.
  • Strong scripting experience (Python preferred), with an understanding of SDLC best practices.
  • Experience implementing monitoring solutions such as logs, metrics, synthetic transactions, and site performance monitoring, including conducting infrastructure capacity and load testing.
  • Proficiency in treating infrastructure as code, working in agile environments, and using version control systems like Git.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior technical role, leading code reviews, advocating for technical standards, and improving SDLC processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with minimal supervision.
  • A mindset focused on innovation, continual improvement, and self-learning.
