About the position

Brivo is seeking a passionate and engaged Senior DevOps Engineer to maintain and optimize a scalable cloud platform while supporting ongoing development efforts. In this role, you will collaborate with a world-class DevOps team, utilizing cutting-edge software engineering and delivery methods, and implementing operational best practices within an Agile environment. The Cloud Operations Team is responsible for supporting Brivo's cloud infrastructure, which is critical for production applications and observability tools. You will be involved in developing a wide range of technical solutions that encompass application runtimes, systems integrations, security implementations, and disaster recovery strategies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to building the best platform for Smart Spaces. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will work remotely, primarily based on the East Coast USA. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with cybersecurity and data teams to implement infrastructure tools and systems, maintaining development and production environments alongside software engineering teams, and taking a leading role in projects and initiatives that create technical solutions to meet key targets on the roadmap. You will provide knowledgeable and confident high-level support within the organization to resolve both internal and external customer issues. Additionally, you will be tasked with improving processes, promoting best practices, and demonstrating a high standard of professionalism and discipline in performing production-related tasks. Continuous learning and improvement of the platform, DevOps, and quality strategies will also be a key focus of your role, as will supporting the Cloud Operations team to ensure maximum uptime and security while optimizing hosting costs, which may include occasional on-call duties shared across two teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the cybersecurity and data teams to implement infrastructure tools and systems
  • Maintain development and production environments with software engineering teams
  • Take a leading role in projects and initiatives creating technical solutions to reach key targets on the roadmap
  • Provide knowledgeable, confident, high-level support within the organization to resolve internal and external customer issues
  • Improve processes, promote best practices, and demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and discipline in performing production-related tasks
  • Promote continuous learning and improvement of the platform, DevOps, and quality strategies
  • Support the Cloud operations team to provide maximum uptime and security while optimizing hosting costs, including occasional on-call duties shared across two teams

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in the AWS Cloud as an SRE/DevOps Senior engineer or lead
  • Strong high-level technical experience with front end web technologies, CDN, header security and web server configuration
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, including but not limited to EKS, ECS/fargate, EC2, Load Balancers, S3, Aurora, VPC, Route53, CLI/API, API Gateway, CloudFront, Lambda
  • Experience supporting change management in a nimble environment
  • Experience providing performance management, goal setting, and mentoring for individual contributors
  • Experience supporting and maintaining SaaS products on a remote team
  • Experience with observability/monitoring tools such as DataDog, Kibana, Prometheus or Grafana
  • Experience working in a fast-paced 24/7 operations shop, responding to and identifying potential and active issues and determining a course of action
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using Jenkins or similar
  • Experience with Configuration Management, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Opentofu)
  • Experience scripting in Python, Bash, or Go
  • Experience supporting message bus queuing systems, such as Kafka, Kinesis, or RabbitMQ
