About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to join our team located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia supporting Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA) efforts to implement the architecture, required services, and facilitate Army adoption of the DoD Cloud services under the Army's Cloud Enterprise Technology Services (CETS) contract. The CETS program provides Information Technology services and technical subject matter expertise (SME) to support overall strategy and migration to the Army cloud (cARMY) environment that currently includes Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure clouds at IL 2, 4, 5 and 6. The successful candidate designs and develops applications software and systems including provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of software and infrastructure-as-code in a DevOps and/or continuous delivery environment. Uses automated deployment and testing frameworks. Implements and maintains a DevSecOps pipeline within cARMY to facilitate continuous integration / delivery based upon DoD, and industry best practices. Leverages DevSecOps pipeline toolchains to facilitate version control, automated orchestration, package management, builds, testing, security evaluation, and deployments. Employs ECMA and/or DoD enterprise or community provided DevSecOps tools or approved custom tools to deliver software from lower to higher security domains meeting all cyber and RMP compliance requirements per DoD and Army policies. Collaborates with hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs, analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls, designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Direct people-management responsibility is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop applications software and systems for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of software and infrastructure-as-code.

  • Leverage DevSecOps pipeline toolchains for version control, automated orchestration, package management, builds, testing, security evaluation, and deployments.
  • Employ ECMA and/or DoD enterprise or community provided DevSecOps tools to deliver software from lower to higher security domains.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of data processing systems.
  • Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
  • Design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics; fifteen years of experience designing and implementing information management systems may substitute for academic degree.
  • Ten years' experience designing and implementing information management systems.
  • Three years within the past five years of experience in technical research and development that enables continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
  • Three years within the past five years of demonstrated experience in product development, including direct control and responsibility over subordinate developers working on web-based and data-intensive systems.
  • Three years within the past five years of experience with provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of software and infrastructure-as-code in a DevOps and/or continuous delivery environment using automated deployment and testing frameworks.
  • Three years within the past five years of experience with commercial CSPs (AWS or Microsoft Azure), containers, server-less architecture, micro-services, web services, and RESTful API design.
  • DoDM 8140.03 (former DoD 8570.01-M) IASE Level III certified (CISSP Information Systems Security Architecture Professional or CISSP Information Systems Security Engineering Professional) within 6 months of taking position.
  • Must be located within 75 miles of ECMA at Ft. Belvoir, VA.
