About the position

The Senior DevSecOps Engineer at PMAT will play a crucial role in enhancing software and systems through a DevSecOps approach. This position involves supporting multiple programs by improving existing architectures, developing new capabilities, and ensuring secure, high-performance applications are delivered at scale. The engineer will collaborate with various teams throughout the software engineering lifecycle, focusing on design, implementation, and support while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate initiative and work collaboratively in a virtual environment, focusing on infrastructure to support software development and delivery.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for Dev/Sec/Ops throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring security requirements are met.
  • Create CI/CD pipelines and automated tests to ensure security is integrated throughout the development cycle.
  • Support and improve implementation of solutions for current programs at PMAT.
  • Assess system design and software implementation of proof-of-concept prototypes.
  • Support system deliveries with software interfaces for multi-sensor data dissemination.
  • Propose new R&D efforts to enhance PMAT capabilities.
  • Mentor less senior DevSecOps engineering staff to enhance their skills and career development.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions through various forms of documentation and clear designs.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers, Team Leads, and management to achieve PMAT goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps setting, particularly supporting the Department of Defense (DOD).
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, load balancing, routing, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and VMware.
  • Proficiency in Git and version control systems.
  • Experience with Kubernetes management and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, preferably Python or Bash.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, preferably Ansible.
  • Familiarity with Terraform and AWS services (EC2, S3, Route53, etc.).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and ArgoCD.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices, infrastructure as code, and infrastructure monitoring software.
  • Experience with USG Cybersecurity processes and controls.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with GitLab.
  • Advanced networking skills.
  • Knowledge of integrating security into DevOps (DevSecOps).
  • Familiarity with additional CI/CD tools.
  • AWS certifications.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification (CKA).
