About the position

The Senior DevSecOps Engineer at Information Technology Strategies, Inc. will play a crucial role in ensuring that software development, operations, and security are integrated seamlessly. This position is specifically for a client agency, the IRS, and candidates must be able to pass a thorough IRS background check, which includes requirements such as U.S. Citizenship, a clear criminal history, and no recent or pending bankruptcies. The engineer will be responsible for automating security checks, managing infrastructure as code, and ensuring that continuous integration and deployment pipelines are secure from potential threats throughout the software development lifecycle. In this role, the Senior DevSecOps Engineer will utilize their expertise in writing code, scripts, and playbooks within a DevSecOps environment. They will have hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly with tools such as Terraform Command Line Interface (CLI), Terraform Enterprise, and Terraform Cloud. Additionally, the engineer will be proficient in version control and CI/CD processes, utilizing tools like Git CLI, GitLab or GitHub, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tooling. Experience with OpenShift Container Platform is also essential, as the engineer will need both administrative and development skills, along with familiarity with containerization tools like Podman and Docker. The position requires a willingness to work onsite in Lanham, MD, at least 50% of the time, which emphasizes the importance of collaboration and direct engagement with the team and projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevSecOps practices and a commitment to maintaining high security standards in all aspects of software development and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure seamless integration of software development, operations, and security processes.
  • Automate security checks throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and related tools.
  • Ensure continuous integration and deployment pipelines are secure from threats.
  • Write code, scripts, and playbooks in a DevSecOps environment.
  • Utilize version control and CI/CD tools effectively.
  • Administer and develop on OpenShift Container Platform.
  • Work onsite in Lanham, MD at least 50% of the time.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass IRS Background check (U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history, no recent or pending bankruptcies).
  • 4+ years of experience writing code, scripts, and playbooks in a DevSecOps environment.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform Command Line Interface (CLI), Terraform Enterprise, and Terraform Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with version control and CI/CD tools such as Git CLI, GitLab or GitHub, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or comparable CI/CD tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenShift Container Platform, including administration and development skills.
  • Experience with containerization tools like Podman and Docker.
