About the position

This position at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) involves working collaboratively with a team of software developers to procure, develop, and maintain technologies related to DevSecOps. The role focuses on enterprise software development, ensuring compliance across platforms, and maintaining software solutions in a dynamic environment. The position may also involve leadership responsibilities and acting as a primary technical contact for projects.

Responsibilities

  • Determine technical objectives for user requirements and specifications and plan for enterprise software development.
  • Formulate plans and guide the development and implementation of software solutions including language, coding, platform, resource requirements, testing, and documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate deployment of enterprise applications including cross-platform compliance.
  • Plan and coordinate the maintenance of enterprise solutions including debugging, maintenance, and updating.
  • Plan for future applications based on new developments in computer technology.
  • May function in a leadership role for a project and/or program and provide direction and guidance to less experienced developers.
  • Represent the organization as a prime technical contact for the project and/or program with the software developer group, customer, and management.
  • Assist in the development of additional sources of revenue.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in computer science, information system or related discipline.
  • Nine or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, seven or more years with a master's degree, or four or more years with a PhD in software development.
  • Extensive expertise of software development concepts, principles, and theory.
  • Demonstrated extensive technical expertise and application of programming and analysis concepts.
  • Experience using/configuring/maintaining AWS GovCloud solutions, source code control repositories (SVN, GIT), continuous integration environments (Gitlab), Linux technologies, provisioning tools (Ansible, Terraform), package managers, hypervisors, containers, webservers, VDI, and software process automation with scripting languages (Python, Bash, Powershell).
  • Experience developing code in at least one high-level programming language (C#, C++, and/or Java).
  • Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in an evolving environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
